Public Safety Dispatcher Certification

Public Safety Dispatcher Level I

The Public Safety Dispatcher is a critical member of the team in any Emergency Services Organization.  The dispatcher forms a vital link between members of the public seeking assistance and the Emergency Service that provides such assistance.  High standards are expected and attained as a result of pride, dedication, training and a sense of commitment.  The session will help train dispatchers and call takers for fire, rescue, emergency medical, law enforcement, public safety answering points and other public safety operations.  You will review:

  1. Basic Principles of Communication

  2. Roles and Responsibilities of Public Safety Dispatchers

  3. Emergency Telephone Systems

  4. Dispatch Center Organization

  5. Equipment and Operation

  6. Call Processing Guides

Prerequisites: None


Public Safety Dispatcher Level II

The Level II course will cover the following information:

  1. Public Safety Dispatch Center Procedures

  2. Dispatch Center Reporting Systems

  3. Computer Aided Dispatching

  4. Radio Communications Systems

  5. Standard Operating Procedures

Prerequisites: Minimum of 6 Months Certified as a Level I Public Safety
